It's nice to take a break from playing Thomas the Train dominoes. My son got this game for his birthday and is very excited about it. But now I must admit to being a little happy that I can put it away for the night.
Jing Mao Hou ("Golden Monkey Hair") is an organic Yunnan tea from Upton Tea Imports. The dry leaf is wiry and spectacular with a large percentage of golden tips. The scent was light and citrusy with a slightly smoky note.
The tea brewed to a topaz/amber liquor, bright and attractive. The scent of the brewed tea reminded me of smoke and pine. The flavor was slightly peppery, but not overdone. It was deep and complex with fantastic mouthfeel. There was a long, pleasant aftertaste - slightly woodsy and slightly sweet.
Best of all, the price was very reasonable. A 10 gram sample was just $1.50. We have a winner!
