Knitting podcasts: Cast On and CraftLit
Knitting pattern website: Knitty
Blog for a mom running the Boston marathon to raise funds for Dana Farber Cancer Institute: The Marathon Mama and her Cafe Press site so you can shop for a good cause!

So here goes...
I wanted to let you know about a couple of my other interests/recommendations, in case these things would interest any of you as well.

I've mentioned before that I adore knitting. I love yarn and all the different kinds of needles, trying new patterns and techniques, and seeing a beautiful something evolve from a ball of yarn. My wallet is a little sad that I've discovered the wide world of fibers beyond acrylic, but it's been a fun adventure. There are two knitting related podcasts I wanted to mention. I'm an avid listener of Cast On. The host, Brenda Dayne, lives in Wales and is a fantastic storyteller. She chooses great music, interesting topics and essays, and inspires my creativity.

I am also a great lover of books - all types of books: fiction, non-fiction, memoirs and biographies, mysteries, food writing, poetry...you name it. I happened upon a great podcast that combines knitting and books called CraftLit: A Podcast for Crafters Who Love Books. The host, Heather Ordover, is a former English teacher. She spends the beginning of the cast talking about knitting/crafts and then plays an audiobook. A book might be spread over a few months of podcasts or it might be just a couple of weeks. It's a great way to keep up with your "reading" while you do your knitting...or tea drinking...or housework!

I can also recommend Knitty as a fantastic place for free patterns online.

On a totally different note is a blog about running...NOT one of my hobbies. The author is a friend of mine and she is getting ready to run the Boston Marathon for the second year in a row as a fundraiser for Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Her blog is called The Marathon Mama and it's a great read, even if you're not a runner. PLUS, she's selling really great stuff on Cafe Press to raise money for this cause. Check out the merchandise here.

That's all for the moment because my brain can't do any more today. :)
