Tea for Little Ones

In an article from Kids Cuisine, a mother discusses her kids' love for tea.

Her daughter, she says, was already drinking tea at 3 years of age. The author and her husband, an Englishman, had tea every night after dinner, and passed down this cultural tradition to the children.

Although she gets the occasional raised eyebrow from other mothers, the author explains that "kids all over the world drink tea. In Britain, little kids come home not to milk and cookies [...], but to tea and biscuits [...]. Kids in China, Japan, Korea, and India all grow up with tea."

She goes on to say that although premium tea is now a growing beverage segment in this country, Americans "still don’t generally accept tea as a child’s drink." Her kids, however, "insist on their cup of “honey tea” every night before bed. It’s a warm, relaxing ritual that, if the health claims are right, will put them in good stead."

And for parents concerned about the caffeine, calming herbal teas are always a good choice.
