We arrived in Petaluma, CA, a charming city, a few days ago. We landed in San Francisco, where weather was perfect - as usual - and drove across the Golden Gate on to wine country.

Petaluma was founded in 1858, the city center displays some cozy buildings which obvisouly wanted to be a showcase of the wealth of the city.

The busy street offers a choice of fashion, house decoration, beauty shops, plus a large book shop, food outlets, and restuarants. There are quite many Mexican restaurants, and Italian ones run second it seems. One evening, we strolled at the Theatre Plaza and I loved this fountain that features faces on all sides.

Right by the fountain is an attractive restuarant called Tres Hombres where we stopped for dinner. We had Vegetable Fajitas and Beef quesadillas. I do not know much about Mexican food - except that it's very hot! I get confused between tacos, fajitas, burritos, mojitos, ... though I know that there is much more to the Mexican cuisine than this.
My vegetarian fajitas came in a hot plate, featuring fried vegetables (shiny, so lots of oil), and dark beans and rice. A side dish had "tortillas" - I was given the option between corn or wheat. Another plate had guacamole, salsa, and cream cheese. Now the fajitas I had in Mexico were "rolled" so this should be a deconstructed version of the Mexican fajitas. It was good.

Jean-Louis had quesadillas (picture above). They were presented very nicely and tasted good.
Buen provecho!
