Scones, a classic necessity for afternoon tea. Simple to make from scratch, sometimes a mix eases the process even more. When I am a guest in someone elses home, I enjoy tucking a scone mix into my luggage, so that I can surprise them with an impromptu tea party for breakfast or afternoon snack. Of course I also tuck in a container of my favorite, loose tea! Piles of home-made scones soon disappear and old cut-glass dishes filled with strawberry, blueberry, or blackberry jam are much in request! Many delightful hours of friendly conversation have been shared over scones and a tea.
