On such a scorching day, iced tea hits the spot. I decided to try out some new samples I received recently from Mighty Leaf. I generally make my own iced tea from loose leaf, but was willing to give these offerings a try. Today I tested out the Ginger Peach.
Mighty Leaf sent me some of their iced tea filter bags. These large paper tea bags are designed to prepare a 1 gallon pitcher of tea. Put the bag in the pitcher, fill it 1/2 full with boiling water, and infuse for 5 minutes. Remove the filter bag and fill to the top of the pitcher with ice.
I must admit, it could not have been easier. The tea came out the perfect strength and never tasted diluted from the addition of the ice. The peach scent was quite strong. The first sip brought an equally strong flavor of peach. I didn't pick up the ginger notes. While the peach was bold, it wasn't overly perfume-y. The tea flavor itself (a mix of India tea/Ceylon) was subtle, but enjoyable.
I tend to like unflavored iced teas, but this is a nice change and will definitely appeal to many of my guests. Plus it's EASY. Really easy. And it is far superior to nearly every ready-to-drink option I've tried.
A nice, mass appeal iced tea from Mighty Leaf. I should also note that this tea won the "Best Flavored Black Iced Tea" category at the 2007 World Tea Expo.
