Memories, Blessings, and Love

The boughs are laden with little objects that represent memories of loved ones, events, and journeys of times past. Our Christmas tree is a memory tree this year. Mother's Christmas ornaments have joined ours, melding together into an exhibit of family history as they decorate our Christmas tree this year.

A button angel. . .

A very shabby pink star. . .folded for our tree when I was a small child. . .

A collection of merry snowmen!

Tokens of love from children who loved their teacher. . .

Reminders of how mom always shared with us the customs and foods of other children from around the world at Christmas time.

Crafted ornament from beeswax and thread. . .which reminds me of hours of candle-making and the beeswax ornaments we molded and carved.

And remember the sled and all the sledding it represents (and the times we didn't have enough snow to sled and wished we did!)

Reminders of visits to museums, National Parks, Indian dwellings, and more. . .on travels to visit family afar during Christmas vacation.

Hearts of all sorts, reminding us of our love for one another, and of God's love for us. . .and ours for Him.

Representations of hobbies and passions. . .

And little ones so sweet.

So although it's not perfectly matched in colors of theme or topics the same, our Christmas tree represents special times and people we love.

When we selected our tree in the mountains, it was covered with snow. It's boughs were laden and droopy. Once the snow was removed and the tree warmed up, it's branches bounced back again. As we started to decorate the tree, the branches again started to droop, lower and lower, as I could not be anything less than generous with each token of memory and love. I feel happy to have a tree laden with so many tokens of memories, blessings, and love.

Merry Christmas!
