We arrived in Saumur late in the afternoon. We had stopped at the best pastry and chocolate shop in the area, BIGOT at Amboise (the chateau in the picture is Chateau d'Amboise). I discovered this family pastry shop and "salon de the" the first time I went biking in the Loire, back in 1997. I found the pastry so good and refined that I bought a large Pave Royal (the house special) in spite of being on a bike! Now, every time we are near, we stop here for breakfast, a quick lunch, tea, or just shopping for excellent pastry.From Amboise we went on to Saumur along the majestic Loire river. What a treat!
